The post-swim problem
I love early swims when the water is glassy and the beach is quiet. The only part that used to ruin it was getting changed afterwards. I did the classic towel juggle for years and it never got less awkward. The first time I used an Adult Hooded Towel, I felt like I had discovered the missing piece of my beach routine. It is oversized, soft, and warm, and it removes all the faff from those salty moments between swim and coffee.
What makes it so good
The size is what makes it work. It is roomy enough to get changed underneath without gymnastics, yet shaped so it does not drag in the sand. The hood keeps the wind off my ears and dries my hair while I potter about. The fabric feels gentle on skin and dries quickly, so I am not lugging a damp towel around for the rest of the morning. The deep front pockets are a small joy. I stash keys, lip balm, sunscreen and a protein bar and walk to the car without juggling.
Always on hand
Mine lives in the boot all year. It comes to sunrise swims, winter ocean dips, caravan park showers and chilly sunset walks when the breeze gets a bite to it. The kids throw theirs on after the pool and somehow forget to take them off, which makes the drive home peaceful and warm. At home I often keep one hanging near the back door because it is perfect for a post-garden hose rinse or for throwing on while I make tea after an evening swim.
Easy care, easy pairing
Rinse after heavy salt, wash on a gentle cycle, avoid softeners so absorbency stays strong, then air dry. They dry fast on a rail or line which is handy when the day runs back to back with swims and errands.
If we are out all day, I roll mine with a Travel Towel inside so I have a spare for a second dip.
For a comfy base, add a Beach Mat. That trio turns any quick swim into a small ritual. Once you have an adult hooded towel, the old towel shuffle feels like a bad joke you do not need to repeat.
