When we started Will and Wind, we did not set out to make just another towel. There were already plenty of those on the market. Bright colours, big claims and very little substance behind them.
What we wanted to create was something more considered. Towels that actually suited the way Australians live, travel and spend time outdoors. Towels that worked properly, lasted and felt like they belonged in the places they were used. The best sustainable travel towel in Australia!
That intention still guides every decision we make.
We design for real use, not trends
A lot of products in this category are designed backwards. They start with what will photograph well or what is trending on social media, then performance is layered on after.
We take the opposite approach when developing the best sustainable travel towel in Australia.
We start by asking how a towel will actually be used. At the beach. On boats. In caravans. At the gym. Thrown in the back of a car. Packed damp after a swim. Used again the next day.
If it does not perform well in those situations, nothing else matters.
That is why our towels are genuinely sand free, quick drying and easy to live with. Not because those phrases sound good, but because they solve real problems.
You can see how this translates into our travel towel range here
We are deliberate about materials - What makes a travel towel truly sustainable?
Not all microfibre is the same. That is something we learned very early.
Lower quality microfibre can feel plasticky, lose softness quickly and hold odours. We did not want that experience associated with our brand.
We chose to use rPET microfibre made from post consumer plastic bottles because it strikes the right balance between performance and responsibility. It dries quickly, feels soft with a suede style finish and is durable enough for repeated outdoor use. Ultimately, we believe this is the best sustainable travel towel in Australia.
Each of our travel towels repurposes the equivalent of 16 plastic bottles. That is not a vague sustainability statement. It is a clear and measurable outcome.
We also focus on longevity. A towel that lasts for years is far more sustainable than one that needs replacing regularly.
We avoid exaggerated sustainability claims - What to look for in the best travel towel
Sustainability matters to us, but so does credibility.
There is a lot of noise in this space. Big numbers, bold promises and very little explanation of what they actually mean. We deliberately avoid that.
Instead, we are specific about what we do:
- rPET microfibre
- Reduced resource use compared to traditional cotton
- Products designed to last
We would rather be transparent and accurate than overstate our impact. Customers are smart and they value honesty.
Our designs are inspired by real places
Design is one of the most visible differences with Will and Wind.
We do not create generic patterns designed to follow trends. Our designs are inspired by real Australian places, coastlines and marine life. Places people recognise and care about.
That sense of place matters. It creates a deeper connection than abstract patterns ever could.
A great example is our Green Sea Turtle towel, inspired by one of Australia’s most loved marine species.
These designs are not just decorative. They tell a story and reflect a respect for the environments that inspire them.
We prioritise versatility
One thing we hear repeatedly from customers is how often they use their towels outside of the beach.
- Our towels are used:
- At the beach and pool
- On boats and kayaks
- At the gym
- While travelling
- In caravans and campers
- For dogs and kids
That versatility is intentional. A towel that dries quickly, stays fresh and packs down small fits into all of those settings without compromise.
This is also why anti microbial performance matters. Towels that smell after one damp pack up are frustrating. We design to avoid that.
We are an Australian owned business
Will and Wind is an Australian owned brand. That matters to us and to many of our customers.
We understand Australian conditions because we live in them. We design for our climate, our beaches and our outdoor lifestyle.
This perspective influences everything from sizing and fabric choice to how our towels are actually tested and used before they ever reach a customer.

We focus on clarity, not hype
You will not find us making extreme claims or promising that our towels will change your life. That is not how we operate.
What we focus on instead is clarity:
- What our towels are made from
- How they are designed
- How they perform
- Why we made the choices we did
We trust customers to make informed decisions when they are given clear information.
This approach also builds long term trust. People come back to brands that do what they say and stand behind their products.
We design products we use ourselves
This might sound simple, but it is important.
We use our own towels. At the beach. On trips. In real situations where performance matters. That real world use informs our decisions far more than trends or competitor activity.
If something does not work properly, we know quickly. And we fix it.
Why that difference matters - Why sustainability and performance matter together
In a crowded market, it is easy for products to blend together. Similar features, similar language, similar claims.
What makes Will and Wind different is not one single feature. It is the combination of thoughtful design, material quality, honest sustainability and real world usability.
At Will and Wind, we focus on making towels that feel considered, perform consistently and last. Towels that you enjoy using and trust to do their job properly.
If you are choosing between brands, look beyond the surface. Think about how a towel will perform after months of use, how it will dry, how it will smell and whether it genuinely suits the way you live.
That is where the real differences show.
